Privacy policy
How univsense.com handles data: no cookies or tracking, hosting request logs only, and what you choose to send us by email or phone.
Who we are
This policy explains what univsense.com does with information about you. The site is operated by UnivSense Inc, 2-21 Malt Dr, Long Island City, NY 11101, USA ("UnivSense", "we"). We also have a contact address in Kottayam, Kerala, India, and we work with clients in India, the UK, the US and Australia.
UnivSense Inc is the data controller (in India, the data fiduciary) for the information described here. Questions about this policy go to hello@univsense.com.
What we collect
Very little. The site has no forms, no accounts and no login. Information about you reaches us in two ways:
- Request logs. Our hosting provider records the standard details of each request to the site: your IP address, your browser's user agent, the URL requested and the time. These logs exist for security and operations, and we look at them only when something needs investigating.
- What you send us. If you email us, phone us, or use the "request a scope" action (which opens a prefilled email in your own mail client), we receive what you choose to share: typically your name, contact details, your company and what you tell us about your project.
What we don't do
The site sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts, trackers or advertising. We do not profile you, build audiences, or sell or share personal data with anyone for their own marketing.
We may later enable cookieless, aggregate performance and visitor analytics from our hosting provider (such as Vercel Web Analytics or Speed Insights). If we do, they will set no cookies and will be used for aggregate page view and performance figures, not for tracking you across sites. We will update this policy when that happens.
Why we use it, and on what basis
Request logs: to keep the site secure and running, and to investigate abuse or faults. Where the EU GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in the security and operation of the site.
Enquiries: to answer you, to scope and deliver an engagement, and to keep a record of what was agreed. Where the EU GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract once it is signed. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, we use the information you volunteer for the purpose you provided it.
Nothing on the site asks for your consent, because nothing on it needs consent: there are no cookies to accept and no marketing lists to join.
Who processes it
We use a small number of service providers, who act on our instructions:
- Vercel Inc (USA) hosts the site and keeps the request logs.
- Cloudflare (USA) provides DNS and network services for the univsense.com domain.
- Google (USA), through Google Workspace, hosts our email, so anything you send to hello@univsense.com or to a team member is stored there.
- We share information with no one else, except where the law requires it or where it is needed to protect the site, our rights or the safety of others.
International transfers
UnivSense Inc is a US company and our providers are based in the United States, so information about you is stored and processed there. It may also be accessed by our team in India. If you are in the UK, the EU or another country with data transfer rules, transfers rely on the safeguards those rules allow, such as standard contractual clauses in our providers' terms where applicable. Contact us if you want more detail about a particular transfer.
How long we keep it
Request logs are kept for our hosting provider's standard retention period and then discarded.
Enquiry emails and related notes are kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry or the engagement that follows, and for any period the law or a signed agreement requires after that. Then they are deleted.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@univsense.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within the time your local law sets.
Depending on where you live, specific laws give you these rights and others: the EU GDPR and UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and privacy laws in a number of US states. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising, so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of.
If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your supervisory authority: your national data protection authority in the EU, the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, the Data Protection Board of India, or the regulator responsible for privacy in your US state.
Children
The site is written for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When the site changes in a way that affects your data, we update this page and its last-updated date. The current version is always at univsense.com/privacy-policy.
